SHEILA Project won 2019 ALT Learning Technology Research Project of the Year

I was very luck to embark on my academic career with the SHEILA project led by Prof Dragan Gasśevič in collaboration with 6 international partners. This project has made a huge impact on higher education learning analytics policy and strategy in Europe and other parts of the world, so I thought, why not entering our project into the competition for the 2019 ALT Learning Technologist of the Year Awards? You can read about the SHEILA project from this list of the finalists: https://altc.alt.ac.uk/2019/awardsvoting/

Or watch this short video:

Although we didn’t win the Community Choice Award, we did win the 2019 Learning Technology Research Project of the Year Award, which made me feel extremely proud.

Here is the feedback from the judge panel:

The judging panel found that this project was exemplary in a number of aspects. It provides a valuable resource to the higher education community who are coming to terms with a new technology. It also demonstrates how a new approach needs to take account of multiple perspectives, and incorporate ethical considerations. The methods of open practice and sharing were also a model for many other projects.

Dragan and I have considered having a follow-up project called Bruce.
